TESTIMONIALS

Skeptical now convert
This is an email testimonial from a journalist to Trish Cumming, HypnoBirthing Practitioner in Seoul who took her training with me in Australia.

" I am a total convert now -the breathing was amazing and I feel so proud and pleased that I had a baby myself - it is a very empowering thing. Connie is a really good baby (not that you get bad ones!) feeds well, looks about 2 weeks old and is settling right in. "

Baby Joshua
Rachael, Anthony and Joshua

Hi Everyone!

Well Anthony and I had our little boy on the 14th of April - just 5 days after the HypnoBirthing training. Little Joshua Lewis Zilcer, weighing in at a hefty (not!) 2.7kgs and 50.5cm was born on the lounge room floor at home delivered by his Dad who deftly removed the cord from round his neck on the way out :-) This was not on my birth plan, but hey it was perfect!

We did have grand plans of videoing the experience yet nature seemed to intervene on that one! My active labour was incredibly short - or so it seemed! In hindsight I think it was longer and it was the HypnoBirthing that helped me to 'not notice' what was actually happening!

I had has some backache on Thursday and on Friday morning and by about 1pm on Friday I felt the need to lie down. I popped my ipod on my ears and listened the birth music I had chosed as well as the relaxation CDs and affirmations. All the while I was texting my brother in Perth on his holiday saying to him that I thought there might be some action soon! Little did I know how true that would be!! At about 3ish I decided that maybe I had better call Anthony and get him to come home. He got home about 4 ish and did some light touch massage on me then I hopped in the bath for about and hour. I got a bit tired of that so hopped out and ended up on the bedroom floor for a while. At about 6.30pm I said to Anthony that perhaps it might be a good idea to start timing these surges ..... it was then I realised that there was actually no time between them. Anthony suddenly realised that I had then had a birth show (we assume) and called the hospital. They were adamant that I had to come in right then and he had to get me in the car. I managed to put a dressing gown and get myself down the stairs when a surge hit and I ran for the rug on the lounge room floor. It was there I stayed ... I was not going anywhere! Anthony then said .. 'well I can tell you this much, he has dark hair'. Joshua was still in the birth sac. Anthony still had the hospital midwives on the phone and they told him to get some towels quick and they then called the ambulance. When they turned up in time to see the head come out at 7.25pm, they said that Anthony looked like he knew what he was doing so left him to it! Once he was out they popped him on my tummy and lifted me into the ambulance. Cord and placenta was all done at the hospital which allowed the time to elapse for the blood to finish pulsating.

The Dr as it turns out puts it all down to me having a high pain threshold and one of those 'lucky' women who have quick labours.

It was all perfect as there was literally no intervention from anyone at anytime - it was just us and was a beautiful experience! I was up and walking around 2 hours later after an ambulance ride, Dr examination and a lovely hot shower. I felt great! Thoroughly recommened the experience ... only I would say just perhaps plan it to be that way :-)

Baby Joshua is very relaxed little thing who only screams the house down when you change his nappy. He feeds and sleeps well is incredibly alert. I have attached some pictures for you all. We have a few little nicknames for him, one of which is Yoda ... he looks so wise sometime!

Good luck with your HypnoBirthing training!

Regards
Rachel and Anthony

11lbs 6oz, no drugs, NO PAIN

Hello Marilyn

Hope you are well,Just wanted to say a big thank you!
Baby Bentley Hicks finally arrived 2 weeks after EDD. They took me in to be induced, but I had a word with baby and my waters went on their own. We were very firm with the staff and insisted on as little interference as possible. Me and Nathan were on our own for 95% of the labour and I only called the midwife when I felt the urge to breath my baby down. 40 mins later 11lb 6oz Jacob was born. No tearing, no complications, no drugs NO PAIN !!!! Just a lot of pressure which was somtimes uncomfotable but that was it. Of course the midwife said I had a high pain threshold, which is a load of rubbish.
I can't believe what a lovely experience it was.
Thanks again

Fear of Flying

Hi Marilyn,
I had a couple of sessions with you last year to help me with a trip to Rome.
I found those sessions had far reaching effects which seemed to leave me with an ongoing more positive attitude in many aspects of of life - what a bonus!!.
I think much of this continues, however I haven`t really come across my areas of discomfort such as lifts and planes since then, although I have been coping well with trains and buses, ( I kinda just realised that!!)

Anyway, I have a big trip coming up around September 21st to Chicago. I really feel I would like the confidence of a session with you.
I found the EFT and self hypnosis helpful and think it would be useful to have some reinforcement of these practices, and also some hypnosis from you as you appear very successfull at planting positive ideas in my sub-conscious.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Sue Thomas

Dear Marilyn

How are you? I don't know whether you are back from Australia yet, you said you thought you would return in April.

I am currently over in the UK in Peterborough for a few weeks. I have an appointment with the fertility clinic here on May 16th with a view to getting IVF treatment. I have had all the tests done in Turkey and they said that I had unexplained infertility i.e nothing obviously wrong apart from my age of course.

I would be very interested in talking with you about your hypnotherapy treatment. I recently attended an NLP course with Paul McKenna and was amazed to see what he achieved with hypnosis. Plus of course I have experienced first hand your stop smoking treatment which worked brilliantly.

I look forward to hearing from you and in the meantime hope you are also well.

With best wishes

Hello Marilyn
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. We had our gorgeous little girl Ariellah Lyssa on Sunday the 9th of April at 17.32pm. We had the most beautiful birth experience, I am very proud of myself and my gorgeous girl together we had the most easiest and peaceful and of course calm birth. Paul was amazed of the difference between this birth and my last two births. The midwife was also in awe of it all she thanked me for letting her be a part of it and said she could not believe how much control I had of my breathing and body. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the opportunity to do the HypnoBirthing classes with you. Looking forward to you meeting our precious little girl. Take care.
Angels are with you Love Leah xox

Just Hypnosis
Alice came to see me on the Monday, just days before her baby was due on the Saturday and wanted hypnosis to help her birth her baby naturally . In three sessions Alice learned self-hypnosis, learned how to relax and learned how to birth. Alice had a doctor's appointment on the Thursday and her last session with me was the day before. When Alice finished the last session I mentioned to her that she was in fact in labour. This is a text I receive exactly one week later.
"

Baby Ilaria
A testimonial from Wendy one of our new HypnoBirthing Practitioners in Sydney.

Hi Marilyn,
The birth was great! Waters broke at 2am, contractions started 3am, hospital 3.30am, contractions slowly intensified - used relaxation, breathing and visualisations - all very successful. No drugs.

Relaxed on left side for most of labour, baby birthed at 7.30am. I didn't realise I had dilated fully. Did feel some discomfort but never too much to bear and not panicked like previous births. I think about 4 contractions for 2nd stage. The midwives commented on little blood loss at birth. Baby was very calm and just looked around and went back to sleep, then she fed for over an hour. Small graze to perineum, no trauma, no stitches. Recovery fantastic! Ilaria feeding well and she definitely smiles!

Was unfortunately ill right up till the end and wasn't sure if I had it in me to birth but it was good. And now feel physically on top of the world.

I completed the hypnobirthing course with Julie Clarke which helped me cement the skills. She is terrific!

Jutta's Birth Story
I just received a letter in the post enclosing two beautiful
photographs and a copy of an email sent to me in October and February
respectively and both of which I never received on the internet. This
is a beautiful HypnoBirthing Story . Jutta's first birth was
traumatic, her experience left her feeling unfullfilled and very much
a "failure" . She had a casearean. Jutta came to my classes late last
summer . She had to travel about 2 hours each way in order to attend
the classes. She held on to her negative beliefs through out the
course. Her husband however found hypnosis an excellent tool and was
able to be the right kind of support for her during her second birth.
Here is her email..

"Our son Dominik was born on the 08 Oct 2006 at home in Grimsby. 52cm,
3,2 kg, strong and healthy
It was an experience we will not forget - for the good things of it.

Saturday night Stefan and I went out for a BBQ with friends and had a
nice evening together with a tiny little bit of champagne for me and
some nice dance in the moon shine. That was probably the most relaxing
start of it all. In the night I was suddenly awake for 2 hours and
felt that the baby did movements that i did not feel before. I got
very excited about it and was suddenly in the mood ' I can do this'. I
fell asleep again and Sunday morning started with a nice long
breakfast and Franziska, our daughter 18 months, in a very good mood.
Around 10 am i felt a sudden knock in my tummy - a sound as if a bone
is breaking, but no pain. Within an hour, contractions started and
progressed very hour to short distances. We had arranged with NHS for
a home birth and Stefan called the midwife on duty after noon. We used
a fragrance lamp with the chinese litsea oil which I got in Singapore.
Stefan closed the curtains half way and the room was warm, so it was a
relaxing atmosphere. The midwife Louise who we had never met before,
came at 1.30pm and check me and also read our birth plan. I was 2 cm
dilated at that time. She seemed not to be in a hurry with that result
and promised to come back around 3pm. I went to take a hot bath with
some chestnut oil and Franziska joined me for a while until she found
it too scary to see me having contractions. she spent the rest of the
afternoon in the garden planting herbs with the nanny.
After a while, I had to leave the bath tub and prefered sitting on the
bed at exactly the place where i always practised my relaxation. I
also tried standing and belly dancing, but contractions than became so
strong with no break and so much pressure downwards that I prefered
going back to sit on the bed.

Louise came back 3.30pm, immediately called a second midwife to help,
and from that moment on it went all very quickly as I was almost fully
dialted and the baby already started pushing down. At least it felt
like this for me. That contractions developed in someting that felt
like an earth, it was not as developing and pushing downwards - and I
could feel my tummy shaking and the muscles moving stronly. There was
not much pain, but still some with the few final contractions before
the baby started moving down. There was no pain at all when the baby
passed the birth chanel, no tears of the perineum and it took maybe
only 3 or 4 contractions to get Dominik out. I did not really realize
how far birth had progressed and I did no realize things going on
around me. i was just wondering what else is still to come and how it
might feel. Stefan was next to me on the bed and told me to relax a
few times when I seemed not to be relaxed, wiped my face as I was
really swetting a lot, I believe.
Dominik was born 4:08 pm, brought on my tummy straight away and the
midwifes follwed what we wanted with no arguments. All was quiet and
pieceful. As soon as the baby was born, Stefan collected Franziska and
the nanny from the garden and they got to see Dominik was put to my
breast. According to Leboyer, Stefan bathed Dominik in warm water
gently while i was giving birth to the placenta probably 10-15 min
after Dominik was born. Dominik was smiling when Stefan slowly let him
sink in the warm water and was so actively looking around and moving
his arms and legs. I was so happy to see that. Vitamin K was given
orally to the baby, we wrapped him soft towels and stayed together in
our bedroom for the rest of the evening. The next morning, I already
got up and took meals in the kitchen and wear normal clothes. Pain and
bleeding were much less compared to the first birth and i did not
experience any postnatal depression during the week after birth. There
was already plenty of milk 24 hours after birth, Dominik did not have
any trouble drinking from the breast. The midwife Louise came to see
us the next morning and told us how impressed she was from what she
had seen. She borrowed the HypnoBirthing book and told me that she
found it really interesting and that she took notes from the book for
her future work. Several midwifes visited us in the course of the next
2 weeks and they all told me about how well it went.

How does it feel for me - i feel like a "proper" woman now, I was able
to give birth to a baby normally. I feel sometimes still very sorry
for Franziska who has not had such an easy start.

Thank you so much for teaching us this method, for me , it was a life
changing experience and I can now understand a lot of the feelings i
had after Franziskas birth. It makes such a difference......

1 friend of mine in Singapore was impressed by this story and got in
contact with a trained midwife over there for the birth of her second
child..."
